Lewis is a post-graduate research student at the University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus. He is investigating the ways in which climate change and fragmented habitats are affecting rare UK populations of the silver-spotted skipper butterfly. In particular, he is interested in the factors controlling its spread across the UK and how a warming climate may change its distribution.
Lewis has a passion for making others excited about STEM. He has developed engagements at the Grant Museum of Zoology and the Little House of Science in London, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum in Vancouver, and the Eden Project in Cornwall. He uses an interactive, tactile and varied approach to science communication and is keen to involve people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
In his spare time, Lewis performs as the rapper in a 10-piece hip hop group, and wants to combine his love of science and songwriting to introduce a new generation to STEM.
